Gartner Reports Fourth Quarter Growth

Tech industry consultancy Gartner has reported a 7% rise in revenues to $1.1bn for the fourth quarter of 2018 (+12% in constant currency terms), while EBITDA, excluding divested operations, rose 6% to $211m.

Gene HallBy business sector, the firm's Research arm saw revenue increase 15% to $797m, or 9% to $796m after adjustment to exclude divested operations. Revenue for the Conferences division rose 18% to $196m, and for Consulting 12% to $96m.

Overall for the group, the company reported full year revenue up 20% to $4.0bn, and it was also able to reduce outstanding debt by $1.0bn and repurchase 1.9 million common shares for $261m.

CEO Gene Hall (pictured) commented: 'In 2018, we delivered another year of double-digit revenue growth and strong results across our three segments. We continue to achieve sustained, free cash flow growth and have resumed our share repurchase program to return capital to shareholders. As we enter 2019, we're better positioned than ever to deliver indispensable value to leaders across every function in the enterprise'.
