Singapore-based market research and data platform Milieu Insight has raised $2.4m in a pre-A round of funding, which it will use for product development and to expand to Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines and Vietnam.
Launched in 2017 by former GfK and YouGov exec Gerald Ang (pictured), Milieu collects millions of data points through a mobile survey app across a wide spectrum of consumer topics, and turns them into visuals using a proprietary data engine. It also offers Milieu Portraits, a consumer segmentation tool which delivers insights about specific demographics, including which products, media and brands consumers prefer;and the Milieu Studies DIY research solution.
New funding has been led by MassMutual Ventures Southeast Asia, and brings the total raised to date to $3.15m. Ang comments: 'I founded Milieu because I realised there was an enormous gap between the needs of businesses today when it comes to data-driven decision making, and how research providers currently service them. Our product was designed to empower businesses with insight exactly when they need it, and to ensure high quality research solutions are accessible to all businesses, regardless of their size, budgets or research capabilities'.
