D&B Buys 'Firmographic' Data Provider Orb

January 10 2020

Commercial data and analytics giant Dun & Bradstreet has acquired Orb Intelligence, which provides 'firmographic data' - such as type of organization, company size, and revenue - for use in segmentation and categorization. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Maria GrinevaSan Jose, CA-based Orb provides a global database of information and attributes on 57 million companies, to help clients build a digital view of a business's presence, including web domains, URLs, IP addresses and social media networks. Dun & Bradstreet says the acquisition, in combination with last summer's purchase of B2B customer data platform Lattice Engines, furthers its commitment to provide its clients with the 'best-in-industry' data, analytical applications and technology.

Orb Intelligence will now help improve D&B's Audience Targeting, Visitor Intelligence, Hoovers and Lattice solutions, with improved anonymous visitor match and programmatic targeting. According to the firms, the combined data cloud will also simplify the connection and segmentation of audiences, the creation of artificial intelligence (AI) models, and the activation of channels through the D&B Lattice Customer Data Platform (CDP).

Maria Grineva (pictured), CEO and co-founder of Orb Intelligence, comments: 'To be acquired by Dun & Bradstreet, which helps companies leverage data and insights to accelerate revenue, lower cost, manage risk and transform for greater competitiveness, is a wonderful culmination to the journey Orb Intelligence began in 2013. We are excited to join Dun & Bradstreet and look forward to working alongside its talented team to deliver a differentiated set of solutions to help businesses improve their competitiveness and growth'.
