US-based business information and optimization software solutions company Optym has appointed Vic Keller as Chief Executive Officer, while founder Ravi Ahuja moves to the role of Chief Science Officer.
The firm develops enterprise-wide data visualization, analytics and business intelligence applications, while offering machine learning, big data and software architecture services. Its technology has applications in numerous sectors, including automotive, defense, energy, finance and healthcare.
Serial entrepreneur Keller (pictured) most recently founded private equity firm KLV Capital, having previously set up the ZAK Automotive Companies group. He began his career in commercial banking at JP Morgan Chase, before moving to oil and insurance subsidiary Wynn's Automotive as VP of Sales, and then launching carXperinece. He takes over as Optym CEO from Ahuja, an academic turned entrepreneur, who founded Optym in 2000 and served as its CEO until recently. Ahuja is the co-author of three textbooks including: 'Network Flows: Theory, Algorithms and Applications', and more than 100 research papers in optimization, mathematical modeling and algorithms.
Commenting on the news, Ahuja said: 'Under Vic's leadership, Optym will augment its superior software development capabilities with leading sales and marketing strategies and enter into new industry verticals. Together, we will grow Optym exponentially. While I will focus on science, Vic will focus on the business, and this marriage of science and business will create extraordinary products'.
