Location Data Firms Mapidea and Unacast Team Up

Geospatial data and insights company Unacast has announced a partnership with location analytics firm Mapidea, with the aim of expanding in the international retail market and focused around Unacast's flagship product, The Real World Graph.

Thomas WalleMapidea helps clients in sectors such as retail, telecoms, pharmaceuticals and banking to analyze how and where their customers are interacting with their brands, both in the physical and digital world. This is used for challenges such as finding the best locations for new retail stores, and optimizing telecoms infrastructure.

The deal aims to bring location data insights to a wider audience, including sectors such as retailers and retail real estate companies, where Unacast has recenty expanded its client base. It also focuses on the tourism, transportation, and marketing industries.

Unacast co-founder and CEO Thomas Walle (pictured) says the company 'always wants to use data for good, especially when it comes to privacy and ethics', adding: 'Understanding how other industries could potentially use location data to solve real world problems is our goal'. Mapidea founder and CEO Miguel Marques comments: 'Looking at data in different ways can help fill in gaps in the buyer's journey. This partnership with Unacast will help increase our data quality and quantity, allowing us to better understand offline activities at a more granular level'.
