April 17 2020

In the US, personalized mobile messaging platform Attentive has extended its Series C round of funding to $110m, with the proceeds used to expand headcount and develop new product functionalities.

Brian LongFounded in 2016 by the team behind mobile app retargeting platform TapCommerce, Attentive uses real-time behavioral data to automatically send text messages to each subscriber at every step of the customer lifecycle. Users can collect individual insights about customers, understand what devices customers use, and personalize messages on a one-to-one basis based on their unique interests and behaviour.

First announced in January, the firm's initial Series C round of $70m was led by Sequoia and IVP. This extension adds Sequoia Capital Global Equities (Sequoia's hybrid crossover fund) and Coatue as new investors, and brings the total raised to date to $164m. Brian Long (pictured), co-founder and CEO of Attentive, comments: 'The new capital will be used to support our growing operations, as well as to launch initiatives to support specific verticals like eCommerce, food and beverage, schools, and more'.
