Funds and New CEO for Customer Data Platform Audiens

In London, customer data platform Audiens has raised $8m (£6.5m) to support international expansion and strengthen its team in certain European markets. The firm has also named Jonathan Brech as CEO, replacing founder Marko Maras who will now head up product strategy and innovation.

Audiens' platform offers access to data onboarded from multiple sources - including web site, mobile app and CRM - cleaned and combined to create a single customer profile. This structured data is then modelled to build advanced customer segments, which companies can publish privately or share with other advertisers for data monetization.

New funding comes from South Korea's NHN Corp, which collates vast quantities of consumer behavior data, and whose focus on cloud, data, advertising, fintech and entertainment will enable Audiens to deliver 'unique' audience insight. With the investment, Audiens plans to expand its plug-and-play audiences offer, to deliver automatic audience identification technologies using NHN's data processing techniques based on cloud data experience and machine learning.

Brech (pictured) takes over the company after previously serving as Audiens' Chief Commercial Officer, and earlier working as CEO of Cambridge Data. Commenting on the news, Brech said: 'Adding NHN's technology and data science muscle to the simplicity and easy deployment of Audiens CDP platform, gives our global customers the ability to create marketing campaigns that create value faster for their brand. The investment accelerates our data science studio capabilities and augments our international sales and marketing program'.
