GTB Hires First Global Chief Data Science Officer

In the US, WPP-owned marcoms agency GTB has hired Marc Sanford for the newly created role of Global Chief Data Science Officer, overseeing a data and analytics team that spans six continents and more than 50 offices worldwide. He takes up the position on September 1st.

Marc SanfordSanford (pictured) joins Dearborn, Michigan-based GTB with twenty years of data, analytics and tech experience. Most recently, he served as SVP of Consumer Insights and Analytics at Wunderman Thompson, where he helped create the firm's first fully automated analytics approach, and build its AI division. Prior to this he led the business analytics team at real estate specialist Zillow; worked for Expedia as Analytics Director; and was VP Consumer Insights at Razorfish.

Commenting on the appointment, Global CEO Robert Guay said: 'Putting data at the center of everything we do is essential to have the deepest understanding of the consumer. Human behavior is the best signal for understanding what, how and when to communicate effectively with consumers in ways that provide a competitive advantage. We're excited to have Marc help lead that charge in this newly created role'.
