New ShareThis Line 'Gives Back' to Non-Profits

December 2 2020

In the US, social media data platform ShareThis has launched a 'philanthropic product line' called Data for Good, with 20 percent of its proceeds donated to non-profit organizations.

Dana HayesPalo Alto, CA-based ShareThis builds real-time audiences using proprietary interest and intent data collected across a global network of more than three million global publisher domains. In August, the company released an audience segment focused on racial justice issues, with 20 percent of proceeds donated to non-profits focused on dismantling systemic racism. The company also launched a donation button within its publisher tools, to allow sites to drive potential donations to organizations such as Black Lives Matter.

ShareThis has now added ten new audience offerings addressing issues such as animal welfare, charity and philanthropy, climate change, gender equality, poverty, social justice and women's rights. For all these new segments, 20 percent of the resulting revenue will be donated to related not-for-profit organizations. The new segments are available on more than 40 platforms across the programmatic media ecosystem, including Liveramp Data Marketplace, The Trade Desk, Xandr, Verizon, and DV360.

CEO Dana Hayes (pictured) comments: 'Our data reflects the passions, concerns, and interests of people around the world as they constantly evolve. For many partners, issue-related campaigns are on the rise. To divert some of the funds used to reach audiences who care deeply about a social issue was a logical next step'.
