Privacy Firm BigID Valued at $1bn after Investment

New York and Tel Aviv-based data protection and privacy software company BigID has raised $70m in a Series D round of funding, on a company valuation of $1 billion. Funds will be used to further expand sales and marketing and deliver new 'data actioning' apps.

Dimitri SirotaBigID combines data science and purpose-built technology to help clients manage and protect their customer data and meet privacy and data protection regulations like the CCPA and GDPR. Users can discover and map all types of data from enterprise data sources; automatically classify, correlate and catalog identity and entity data into profiles; manage and protect enterprise data with advanced data intelligence; and automate privacy and data protection.

New funding has been co-led by Salesforce Ventures and Tiger Global, with participation from existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners, Scale Venture Partners and Boldstart Ventures, bringing the total raised to almost $165m in just over two years. CEO and co-founder Dimitri Sirota (pictured) comments: 'It's a testament to our traction, team and vision that we can continue to attract the capital to fuel our data innovation for privacy, protection and perspective'.
