Shimmer Partners for Turnkey At-Home Neuro Launch

Wearable insights tech firm Shimmer Research has partnered with mobile MR specialist IVP Research Labs and data collection firm Schlesinger Group, to launch an at-home biometric neuromarketing research service.

Last month, IVP and Shimmer partnered to launch a solution called NeuroLynQ, which uses galvanic skin responses (GSR) and electrocardiogram (ECG) readings to measure participant engagement and attention levels during in-person research. IVP and Schlesinger have worked with Shimmer technology for years, and for the new solution will now recruit participants according to the client specifications, manage the logistics of getting the sensors to and from the participants, and ensure they complete the study in a timely manner.

The new service, NeuroLynQ[at]Home, provides a remote biometric monitoring system, allowing participants' nonconscious emotional responses to be evaluated from their own homes. It measures GSR or changes in sweat gland activity, and heart rate using a photoplethysmogram (PPG) sensor, which uses light absorption to measure changes in blood volume in their capillaries. These indicators then provide moment by moment assessment of the participants' emotional response to whatever stimulus they are being exposed to, including video, web sites and gaming. They are also used for ethnographic studies.
