Yankee Group Acquired

Communications and networking research specialist The Yankee Group has been acquired from Reuters by Monitor Clipper Partners and a group of private investors including Ted Philip, the former President, COO and CFO of Lycos, Inc., who intends to play an active role and serve on the board of directors.

Monitor Clipper Partners is the private equity investment arm of Monitor Group, who are already working with Yankee on a number of projects.

According to Yankee Group President and CEO Brian Adamik, 'We could not be more pleased with the outcome of this acquisition and our new partners. With access to the resources and relationships made available to us by these investors the Yankee Group has the ability to expand its world class customer service and product portfolio'.

Mark Thomas, Managing Director of Monitor Clipper Partners, says the Group is 'well situated to grow; both by addressing the ongoing needs of its existing customers for faster, more useful and relevant information, and by extending its product reach to serve new markets'.

In a separate announcement this week, Yankee Group says it will partner with Monitor Group's marketing strategy division Market2Customer(r) (M2C) to develop the Yankee BrandMonitor (TM), a set of brand diagnostic tools targeting the communications and networking industries. The two have a previous record of successful collaboration in the ERP field.

Bob Lurie, Director, Monitor Group and CEO, Market2Customer says that 'Despite the billions of marketing dollars invested every year by the communications and networking sectors, firms in these industries have lacked a monitoring tool that routinely assesses and delivers actionable information on critical brand attributes such as appeal, loyalty, relevance, familiarity and differentiation'.

The partnership plans to introduce a version of the BrandMonitor targeting companies who specialize in Human Resources Business Process Outsourcing (HR BPO), plus services for telecommunications, wireless communications, IT and business applications, and consumer technologies.
