Latest Merger Moves Sorrell's S4 into Tech Services

September 20 2021

Sir Martin Sorrell's digital advertising and marketing services company S4 Capital plc has begun the growth of a third main practice area with the acquisition of tech services company Zemoga.

DJ EdgertonColombia-based Zemoga, which will merge with S4's new unitary brand Media.Monks, provides product design, engineering and delivery services for digital transformation to enterprise clients across multiple verticals. The firm was founded in 2002 by DJ Edgerton (pictured), and now has offices in Los Angeles, New York and Wilton, Connecticut as well as delivery centres in the Colombian cities of Bogota, Cali, Medellin and Baranqilla. The firm employs almost 400 technology specialists, and has grown more than 45% per annum (CAGR) over the past four years.

Sorrell established S4 in May 2018, shortly after leaving WPP, with the aim of building a purely digital advertising and marketing services business. Until now, it has been focused around two main pillars: content and data, and digital media. The Company now has more than 6,000 people in 33 countries across the Americas, EMEA and Asia Pacific and a market cap of c.£4.3bn (c.$US 6.0bn)

Sir Martin, who is Executive Chairman of S4, said of the deal: 'We are delighted to welcome DJ and his colleagues to the S4Capital family. Marketing digital transformation involves at least three corporate functions - marketing, sales and IT. Entry into the technology services sector through Zemoga gives us the full capability to talk to the Chief Technology or Information Officer, as well as the Chief Marketing and Chief Sales Officer. We now have the full set'.

Edgerton, who worked as an Art Director at Saatchi & Saatchi Worldwide in the early 1990s, adds: 'Merging with a powerhouse like Media.Monks is a natural next step in the evolution of Zemoga as our complementary service offerings, client portfolios and our common approach to disrupting the industry make for an exciting future all round'.
