IDC and GTDC Link for NA Distributor Tracker Launch

Tech intelligence and events firm IDC has partnered with the Global Technology Distribution Council (GTDC) to launch the North American Distributor Tracker, providing a view of technology distribution data and market trends in the US and Canada.

The new tracker combines IDC's market data with GTDC member 'sales through' data, to offer details about movement and trends in tech markets. According to IDC, only around 40% of technology product sales are direct from vendors to end users, while 60% go through distribution channels and partnerships. The data collected by GTDC members represent nearly 90% of total products sold through the two-tier channel in North America.

IDC's tracker will provide technology and market coverage across fourteen product groups for both the US and Canadian markets; and will include data for more than 900 companies and over 1,000 brands with product detail for more than 175 hardware, software, and services categories. It will be available for weekly and monthly delivery beginning in Q1 2022.
