US technology researcher IDC has announced a reorganisation of its business designed to give clients the benefit of a broader view of IT matters. As part of this, it has also announced the promotion of nine research executives to new roles.
Crawford Del Prete becomes Senior Vice President overseeing all four key research areas, namely Hardware, Communications, Software, and Services research, while Tony Picardi, Senior Vice President of Software Research, will continue as IDC's worldwide software research leader.
With the same aims in mind, IDC has created seven new research groups designed to provide additional high-level views of the IT and telecoms markets and fit in with client organizations' business objectives. Seven execs have been promoted to head up the groups, each as Group Vice President:
The first six also take the title of General Manager for their group.
According to Kirk Campbell, IDC's President and CEO, the new structure reflects the increasingly interdependent technology market landscape and should 'enhance IDC's capability to meet clients' needs for high-quality, comprehensive research solutions'.
According to Del Prete, 'IT professionals are increasingly focused on key solutions as opposed to point products that address their companies' main business challenges. This gives IT providers the mandate to work out the core interdependencies between point products in order to create a solution that delivers increased value customers can utilize'.
Accelerated research investments will be made in various products, including new Quarterly Trackers, Market Forecasters, Vertical market research, and strategic analysis reports.
