SAP Buys Search-Driven Analytics Firm Askdata

Business software giant SAP has acquired search-driven analytics firm Askdata for an undisclosed sum.

Available in multiple languages, Askdata applies AI technology and natural language processing (NLP) to enable users to answer data questions through a simple search. Users can interact with data without having to learn a self-service analytics product, and the firm provides intelligent data sharing capabilities to Business Intelligence and Analytics teams. In addition, users eliminate data silos and create a centralized source of information for all employees.

Askdata now joins SAP, which is the majority owner of experience management platform Qualtrics. As part of the deal, Askdata's IP will become part of SAP Business Technology Platform and contribute to a 'lightweight analytics' experience for SAP Analytics Cloud solution customers and to line-of-business applications.
