BARB Issues Tender for Panel Expansion Recruitment

October 7 2022

UK television audience measurement body BARB is looking for suppliers to recruit for an expanded panel. Submissions are due by 7th November 2022, with work beginning in January.

Justin SampsonBARB's contractors collect and analyse data that represent the viewing behaviour of the UK's 28 million television and broadband-only households, and its currency is used by broadcasters, advertisers and agencies to evaluate the success of their campaigns and investment. Research focuses on five questions: Who is watching? What are they watching? When are they watching? Which screen are they watching on? How did the content get to the screen?

In June, BARB announced it had awarded long-term research contracts fundamental to its delivery of the service from January 2024. This included an increase in its nationally representative panel of UK households from 5,150 homes to 7,000. BARB is now inviting tenders for a contract to recruit these additional households - specifically, it is looking for suppliers that demonstrate innovation in engaging both potential recruits and recruited panel homes to participate on an ongoing basis.

CEO Justin Sampson (pictured) comments: 'The forthcoming expansion of our reporting sample to 7,000 homes demonstrates the commitment of the UK's television and advertising industry to the independent and objective insight that comes from panel-based measurement. We are now looking for a contractor with fresh ideas to help us deliver this panel expansion'.
