CitizenMe Launches 'Ethical Human Data Marketplace'

October 25 2022

In London, personal data business CitizenMe has launched a self-service platform called the Ethical Human Data Marketplace, which it says will help marketers understand the changes in citizens' behaviour resulting from the use of smart devices, web3 and the metaverse.

StJohn DeakinsCitizenMe helps consumers connect their digital information - for example from social media networks and mobile apps - and promises them individual insights about themselves using its machine learning technology. This technology allows consumers to choose what data they share with companies, while corporate clients can use the firm's platform to request anonymised data and insights directly from consumers in real time, in exchange for payment.

The company cites research which demonstrates that as the adoption of smart watches and bio-wearables 'goes mainstream', these technologies will soon be joined by visually augmented and virtual worlds - creating increases in the volumes of highly sensitive personal data - currently being derived from eye tracking, iris scanning, sweat monitoring, gait analysis and non-verbal communication. The new zero-party data platform has been developed in response to this issue, with all personally identifiable information held, verified and processed in each citizen's own smartphone, and only shared anonymously and directly with their explicit permission.

Initially, the platform will provide access to 420 data types, account tiers and advanced research functions. Additional phases, rolled out every six weeks, will include access to 155 million respondents and more smart integrations. CEO StJohn Deakins (pictured) says the platform currently offers a broad range of 'web2' behavioural data, combined with a self-service MR platform, which includes a full suite of questions types and formats plus advanced features such as photo uploads and digital product prototype testing.
