Meta Gets MRC Accreditation for Facebook Brand Safety

US tech platform Meta, which owns Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp, has received accreditation from the Media Rating Council (MRC) for its content-level Brand Safety on Facebook.

George IvieIn 2020, Meta committed to undertaking and releasing independent, third-party assessments of its brand safety and suitability solutions. This MRC accreditation comes after an audit conducted by independent CPA (Certified Public Accountant) auditors engaged by MRC, who reviewed the brand safety policies, controls and processes Meta has in place to ensure a 'safe and suitable' advertising environment on its platforms.

Specifically, this accreditation is of Meta's Partner and Content Monetization Policies, as well as associated content-level brand safety and suitability controls applied to Facebook In-Stream Video and Instant Articles in desktop, mobile web and mobile in-app. MRC Executive Director and CEO George Ivie comments: 'We congratulate Meta on achieving this important accreditation, which meets the high bar of our Enhanced Content Level Context and Brand Safety Guidelines. Brand safety and suitability are critical endeavors across the industry, and Meta's commitment to these is evidenced by this accreditation'.
