Seed Funds for Data Protection Firm Protopia AI

In the US, data protection specialist Protopia AI has raised $6m in a seed round of funding, which it will use to further build its engineering teams, go-to-market efforts and product features.

Professor Hadi EsmaeilzadehThe firm's software solution allows its customers to use AI and machine learning to extract insights from their actual data without exposing identifiable sensitive information. This technology is based on inventions by its co-founder, Professor Hadi Esmaeilzadeh (pictured), endowed Chair of Computer Architecture at the University of California San Diego.

Seed funding has been led by ATX Venture Partners, with participation from Galaxy Interactive, Silverton Partners and DNX Ventures, bringing the total raised to date to $8m - which includes an initial $2m pre-seed round. Chris Shonk, ATX Venture Partners Managing Partner, comments: 'No other software company in the market is offering a solution with privacy in mind, at all stages of the ML lifecycle, including deployment, in mind from inception. We have a shared vision for maximal data protection and are pleased to fund the company at this critical growth stage'.
