Leadership Change at META

October 20 2004

Technology research and consultancy firm META Group, Inc. has announced changes among its leading personnel. Board Director Monte Ford has resigned to focus his time and energy on his work at American Airlines, while CD Hobbs has replaced interim President and COO Herbert VanHook.

Hobbs, a member of the firm's Executive Directions group, was appointed by the board of directors to the permanent role. He joined META Group in 1996 to launch Energy Information Strategies, left in 2000 to serve as Chairman and CEO of a San Francisco based global software company and rejoined last fall to work in Executive Directions. Prior to 1996 he served as COO of an on-demand print and publishing company after 15 years as CFO, COO, CAO and CIO for Fortune 500 energy company Portland General Electric and its subsidiaries.

Hobbs, selected for his 'deep understanding of our business and strong experience across global strategy, finance and operations functions', will work closely with the company's previously formed Operations Committee. According to its Chairman Howard Rubin, 'The Operations Committee looks forward to working very closely with Mr. Hobbs to continue to drive corporate health and profitability while simultaneously shaping new business solutions and investment strategies that will position META Group as a market leader for years to come'.

Board member Gayl Doster said the directors were 'sorry to see Monte leave ... but understand his commitment to American Airlines and are appreciative of Monte's contributions to META Group during his tenure'.

The Group says it expects revenue for the quarter ended September 30, 2004 to be between $33.5 and $34.5 million, with profitable operating results. Its web site is at www.metagroup.com
