Brox.AI Gets Seed Funds for AI-Powered Brand Tracker

October 4 2023

AI-powered consumer brand tracker.Brox.AI, which was set up earlier this year by two of the creators of YouGov Signal, has raised $1.9m in a seed funding round.

Hamish Brocklebank and Durge SeerdenLos Angeles and Amsterdam-based Brox-AI was founded in February by Hamish Brocklebank and Durge Seerden, two co-founders of data science-driven film and TV industry research agency Portent.IO, which was acquired by YouGov in 2018 and then re-branded as YouGov Signal. Since selling Portent.IO, Brocklebank most recently served as Chief of GDPR and CCPA compliant cross-device tracker and data marketplace YouGov Safe; while Seerden has been Lead Designer / Front-end Developer of YouGov Signal.

Through their latest venture, the pair have just launched the Brox.AI Brand Tracker, designed to help researchers, marketers and brand strategists obtain insights into brand perceptions and the reasons behind them. Analyzing more than 30,000 video interviews every week with OpenAI's Large Language Models, the solution provides a continuously evolving dataset on brand perceptions, through which clients can monitor key brand metrics over time and then delve into data using a ChatGPT style interface to look at specific periods, brands or demographics.

According to the firm, this minimizes the need to run further custom client surveys, but with all insights rooted in genuine survey video responses from real individuals. At present, the tracker encompasses more than 120 brands spanning sectors such as technology, media, consumer finance, and eCommerce, with a focus on the US market. Brocklebank comments: 'We envision Brox.AI significantly accelerating insights retrieval for CMOs and brand researchers, potentially 100x faster than conventional methods. With the advent of LLMs blurring the lines between qualitative and quantitative insights, our emphasis is on aiding clients to get answers to their crucial answers in real time'.

The money comes from investors including Wonder Ventures, Scribble Ventures, and Vela Partners, and individuals including Josh Roth, CTO of Ring.
