Lightspeed Strengthens Global Ops Team

Lightspeed Research has strengthened its global operations team with a series of new appointments and recruits. This includes the creation of a new post of Chief Operations Officer with the appointment of Chris Stevens.

London-based Stevens, formerly SVP of European Operations and Global Analysis, has been promoted to COO. He joined Lightspeed Research in 2000 to set up the company's European Research and Panel Operations. In the new role he will have global responsibility for Research Operations, Research Technology, Panel Operations, and Training and Development.

Prior to joining Lightspeed, he was a Research Director at Taylor Nelson Sofres, responsible for a number of global telecoms and IT research programmes in both business and consumer markets. Before this, he was Head of the Research Department at GfK Marketing Services in the UK, where he oversaw research matters for all consumer and retail panels.

Nick Armstrong has been appointed to the newly created position of VP Operations and will be based in the London office, responsible for overseeing and further improving fieldwork processes in line with the company's dramatic growth. Previously, Nick worked for SKOPOS Market Insight and Consultancy, where he was in charge of online research in general and the SKOPOS Online ServiceBureau. Prior to this, he worked for the online consumer insight platform, Dooyoo.

In the new position of Director of Online Marketing, William Fernandez brings expertise in web development and Internet marketing strategy. He is based in the US office and will lead Global Panel Operations. Prior to joining Lightspeed, he was Web Marketing Director for The Insight Research Corporation where he led the development and automation of the company's ecommerce and online lead generation process. Before this, he acted as an online marketing consultant for various organizations, including the Department of Defense and International Flavors and Fragrances.

Mathew Perkins, who joined Lightspeed in 2000 as Technology Director, Europe, has been promoted to a new position as Director of Research Technology, based in London. He will continue to support the Research Technology division with global responsibility for all aspects of survey and data deliverable production. He is also responsible for the development and management of the Lightspeed Research Custom Panels. Prior to joining the company, he worked as a software developer and also as a network administrator at various companies.

Denise McGrew, formerly Director of Panel Operations, has moved to the new position of Director, Training and Development, with global responsibility for research operations process, training and development within Lightspeed Research. Denise has been with the company since 1999 and managed the creative development of the first Lightspeed Consumer Panel web sites, as well as being responsible for legal compliance for content and procedures, incentive programmes, panel care, and recruiting. She previously held various positions within AT&T Bell Labs Technical Publications and AT&T Consumer Marketing.
