The global MR industry's daily paper since 2000

... and for MrWeb

February 24 2005

MrWeb posted its 20,000th vacancy ad on Tuesday this week. The site, which was launched in 1998, has been the UK's busiest medium for MR recruitment since the year 2000, but the rapid recent rise in the number of postings is evident from the fact that ad number 10,000 went up in mid-2003.

The ad, for a Head of Customer Loyalty, London, paying £70-80,000, was sent by consultants at RP Cushing, who will receive a prize at a short ceremony next week to mark the occasion. A ridiculously large cheque (physically large that is, it's only for £2.50) of the kind seen in charity photographs but surely not accepted in reputable banks, is in preparation.

MrWeb MD Nick Thomas said the speed with which the second 10,000 had passed had taken the company by surprise: 'the site's advertisers already included most of the UK's specialist recruiters long before 2003, so the number of regular UK advertisers has grown only incrementally - the rapid increase in numbers posted therefore reflects a more buoyant MR sector, the arrival of a good number of overseas ads and a steady increase in awareness of the site among new and more occasional advertisers'. Audience figures are currently twice those for Summer '03.

MrWeb's job search pages are at www.mrweb.com/jobs - UK; www.mrweb.com/usjobs - USA; and www.mrweb.com/ausjobs for Australia. Vacancy number 20,000 is at www.mrweb.com/vacs/vac-20000.htm
