Freight & Distribution Data Acquisition

March 2 2005

Economic analysis and financial information provider Global Insight, Inc. has acquired most of the assets of US freight transport and distribution analyst Robert Reebie and Associates, Inc. for an undisclosed sum. Reebie's professional staff will immediately relocate to Global Insight's Lexington, MA offices.

Reebie is the operator of the TRANSEARCH(r) database, which analyses US county-level freight movement data by commodity group and mode of transportation. It also offers computer models of carrier costs for the rail, truck and barge modes, together with intermodal costs.

Global Insight will combine its extensive data, forecasting and international perspective with Reebie's databases and analytic capabilities to expand its Global Insight Transportation Service. New products and services will be geared to the planning needs of shippers, carriers and governments, including railroads, trucking companies, vessel operators, port authorities, air cargo transport providers, and federal, state, and local agencies.

Global Insight Chairman and CEO Joseph E. Kasputys says the combination of products and skills will provide 'a complete picture of international and domestic freight markets for every commodity and mode of transportation. The Reebie acquisition consolidates our position as the transportation industry's leading provider of intelligence, solutions and insights for planning and decision-making'.
