ESOMAR Looks at Emerging Markets

April 19 2005

Speakers and panellists from companies including Saatchi & Saatchi, Coca-Cola, IBM, MasterCard and Motorola will discuss their experiences of working in emerging and developing markets, at the ESOMAR Global Forum in New York in May.

The Forum, aimed at senior marketing and business professionals, takes place in the InterContinental The Barclay Hotel at 111 East 48th Street on 18th-19th May. It aims to provide insights into how to overcome the barriers and 'become relevant, both physically and emotionally, to consumers' in markets which account for more than four fifths of the world's population and which in many cases are transforming themselves into thriving economies with a substantial and growing middle class. Asian countries are of course the focus of the biggest interest at present, but the Forum will adopt a broader remit.

The Keynote speaker is Kevin Dundas, Worldwide Strategy Director of Saatchi & Saatchi, USA who will discuss 'Love and respect in emerging markets: The Saatchi & Saatchi story'. He will be followed by Rohit Deshpandé of Harvard Business School, ESOMAR President José Ignacio Wert, David C. McCaughan of McCann-Erickson, Japan, Esteban Socorro of The Coca-Cola Company, Argentina and Fernando Moiguer of Moiguer & Asociados, Argentina.

To conclude the day, a panel discussion on Going global: Is this the panacea? will feature senior panellists from a list of global companies including IBM, MasterCard International, Motorola, Kraft Foods International and Symrise.

The Forum is followed on Thursday, 19 May by a workshop on improving client-provider relationships, Breaking Taboos: The key to finding common ground between clients and providers, led by Fred John, MasterCard International, and Chris Modzelewski, I-Metria, USA.

The programme and registration form can be found on ESOMAR's web site -see www.esomar.org/globalforum2005 and refer to the menu on the left hand side.
