IRI Reveals Trade Promotion Package

April 28 2005

Information Resources, Inc. (IRI) has launched Trade Performance(tm) solution, offering CPG manufacturers a single enterprise application for analysis, planning and execution of trade promotions across all company divisions.

The announcement was made at the 2005 ECR Europe Conference and Marketplace taking place at the Palais des Congres in Paris this week.

IRI says that trade promotion budgets represent a major slice of total spend by the top CPG companies, but the return on investment is little understood. In its June 2004 report on 'Grading Trade Promotion Solutions' Forrester Research says CPG firms' trade promotion budgets have escalated to 14% or more of their average gross revenues, representing Euros 100 billion in spend by the 50 biggest CPG firms, 'yet many leading companies rely on spreadsheets and point solutions to manage these huge investments'.

IRI Trade Performance is the latest addition to IRI's Consumer-driven Enterprise Management(tm) Software Solutions suite, and integrates with the company's MarketInsights(tm) platform to enable management of trade promotion economics based on real-time marketplace behavior.

Specific features of the new package include best-practice promotion planning and analysis workflows; promotion planning at the Brand, Category or Account levels; calendar capabilities to manage event and activity planning; real-time modeling and testing of different promotion scenarios; baseline and incremental volume, revenue, and margin, enabling manufacturers to fine tune promotions based on financial impact as well as retailer feedback; pre- and post-event analysis; and assessment of the financial and supply chain impact of proposed promotions.
