Second Australian MR Group Gets Social

June 20 2005

Australia's Association of Market Research Organisations (AMRO) has changed its name to reflect its broadening role. The country's professional (individual) membership organisation the AMSRS added the word 'Social' to its name last year, and AMRO has followed suit, becoming AMSRO.

AMSRO, which represents the interests of MR companies and organisations, says the new name reflects the role research companies play in public sector, government, utilities and non profit sectors, and the importance these sectors have in lobbying legislators on critical initiatives that differentiate market and social research from direct marketing. Members formally endorsed the change at a special meeting in early May.
