ACNielsen and DemandTec Offer Retail Insight Tools

ACNielsen is joining forces with DemandTec, a provider of Consumer Demand Management (CDM) software, to deliver 'consumer-centric merchandising solutions' for retailers. These include software and other services designed to give pricing and promotion insights, and to help generate merchandising plans.

The joint solution, to be offered to clients worldwide, combines decision-support applications, and consumer and market information from ACNielsen with DemandTec's existing Price, Promotion and Markdown applications. Underpinning these is the DemandTec CDM platform, which can process large volumes of retail transaction log data. The combined service will allow retail clients to simulate the outcomes of pricing, promotion and merchandising scenarios.

Steve Schmidt, President and CEO of ACNielsen, describes the new solutions as 'the first of many' expected through the DemandTec partnership. DemandTec President and CEO Dan Fishback says the venture will 'deliver quantified consumer and market insights to our clients' and will 'further extend retailers' capabilities to understand, shape, and profit from consumer demand'.
