Online Displacing Telephone Pharma Research

Online pharmaceutical market research is growing at the expense of 'phone interviews, according to an international survey of pharma researchers by medical research agency Medefield.

The survey results are based on the responses of 150 market researchers and business analysts from around the world. Analysis shows that use of the Internet as a method of data collection in pharma MR continues to rise, primarily at the expense of telephone interviewing. Researchers give different reasons for opting for online research, but those most often cited are speed and cost. Other important factors given are accessibility to physician samples, data accuracy and ease of use.

Researchers told Medefield that their use of the Internet as a method of data collection would increase if they had access to larger physician samples or panels. This was especially important for European respondents, as was further proof of Internet data credibility.
