Datamonitor Buys Verdict Research

UK business information company Datamonitor has acquired retail analysis specialist Verdict Research Limited for a maximum consideration of £4.7 million in cash.

Datamonitor CEO Mike Danson describes Verdict as 'the UK's most influential and well-known brand in the retail analysis market' and says the buy creates 'a real presence for Datamonitor in this important market. We see substantial opportunities to really enhance their product delivery through our global electronic platform as well as for the continued growth of their unrivalled retail service offering'.

Verdict was founded by Richard Hyman in 1984 and is a much-quoted source in the UK media. Datamonitor, which will announce its interim results for the half year to 30 June 2005 next Monday, is on the web at www.datamonitor.com.
