Nokia and Sprint Staff Join NPD Wireless

October 18 2005

US-based retail specialist the NPD Group has appointed Glen LeBlanc, formerly Business Consulting Manager at Nokia, as Research Director for Wireless Services, and Drew Hull, formerly of mobile network Sprint, as Research Director for Mobile Content.

At Nokia, LeBlanc was responsible for business case development, market analysis, competitive intelligence, and financial performance analysis. In his new role, he will offer strategic advice and insights about mobile voice and data services for consumer and business markets. He will also analyse carrier experience and satisfaction, the retail purchasing experience, and trends in specific market segments.

Hull previously managed various lines of mobile content businesses at Sprint, including ringtones, ringback tones, and downloadable graphics and wallpapers. He worked with various content providers, from record labels to content aggregators and infrastructure providers. His new position involves developing and managing market information and tracking services related to mobile content, including games, music, video, and personalisation products.
Clint Wheelock, VP of Wireless Research for NPD, praises the new recruits' 'deep industry expertise and broad perspective', which he says will help NPD Wireless provide clients with a 'combination of in-depth market data and rich strategic analysis on key trends'.
