New Head for NPD's Global Beauty Business

The NPD Group has appointed Claude Charbit, formerly special adviser to the company's European Beauty business, to President of its Global Beauty division. Charbit was responsible for NPD's recent agreement to acquire the TNS Infratest Italian perfumery business.

Charbit has been acting as an adviser to NPD since July 2003, and his responsibilities included leading the company's negotiations with TNS (see www.mrweb.com/drno/news4686.htm for more detail). Before working with NPD, Charbit was Executive VP of European Operations for Information Resources Inc (IRI), having previously been the firm's Chairman and CEO for France. Before IRI, he held leadership positions with Sofres, EuroRSCG Group and ACNielsen.

In his new position, he will co-ordinate and develop NPD's Selective Beauty business internationally. Andy Tarshis, President of NPD Europe, says Charbit has been a 'critical asset to NPD during the last several years', and that his experience will be invaluable in 'continuing to grow our Beauty business, leveraging our current position as market leader in France and Italy for continued growth in Europe and beyond'.
