Arbitron Reshuffles to Speed Up PPM Delivery

December 22 2005

US media measurement firm Arbitron is reorganising the responsibilities of two key executives - Owen Charlebois and Pierre Bouvard - in order to speed the commercialisation of its Portable People Meter (PPM) audience measurement system.

Steve Morris, President and CEO, explains the reasons for the restructure: 'To bring PPM to the US media marketplace as quickly as possible, we must make changes to our organisation. The solutions require closely integrating operations, technology and research and development into a tightly knit team capable of accelerating our speed to market.'

Charlebois becomes President of the Operations, Technology, Research and Development business unit, which will deploy the new PPM services as well as operating existing measurement services.

Charlebois will be responsible for enhancing the quality of the diary-based radio ratings. He was previously president of US Media Services for Arbitron, joining the company in January 2001. Prior to that, he was President and CEO of BBM Bureau of Measurement, the Canadian radio and television ratings consortium.

Bouvard, now President for Sales and Marketing. He will take charge of sales and marketing for both the PPM and existing core services such as radio ratings, outdoor and cable research, and software for media and marketing analysis. He will also oversee marketing efforts in Mexico and Canada.

He was appointed to his previous role of President, Portable People Meters and International in January 2005. Previous roles include President, Webcast Services and New Ventures, and VP and General Manager for Worldwide Media Information Services.

Linda Dupree, Senior VP, Portable People Meter New Product Development, continues to oversee the development of MR services based on PPM technology. She is leading Arbitron's contribution to Project Apollo, the joint effort with VNU to develop a new multi-media measuring system based on the PPM and in-home scanners.

The company is online at www.arbitron.com.
