UK Retail and Ad Specialist Launches Agency

Alison Gilbertson, formerly Head of Knowledge at McCann Erickson, has set up her own agency - Unravel Research and Planning - based in the UK. The agency is offering qual and quant services as well as strategic planning input, workshops and training.

Gilberston worked as Market Research Controller for GUS Home Shopping for 11 years before moving to McCann Ericson in 2001. She is qualitatively trained and says that, during her research career, she has conducted interviews with 'hundreds of different audiences including pre-school children, farmers, managing directors, students, car dealers, sovereign ring wearers, boy racers, and teachers.'

She is also an experienced research trainer, having taught on the MRS Essentials of Quantitative Research and Essentials of Qualitative Research courses and the IDM Diploma in Direct Marketing.

Speaking of her passion for research, she says: 'The best projects are when you are constantly working out how to apply what you've discovered. You think about it in the bath and love to debate it with your colleagues.'
