Greenfield/Ciao Adds Panels in Asia

February 13 2006

Greenfield Online and its European subsidiary, Ciao, have established native-language MR panels in Japan, South Korea and China. The news follows Friday's announcement of disappointing financial results for Greenfield, particularly in North America.

The Japanese and South Korean panel recruitment sites were launched in December 2005 and the company has now recruited around 35,000 new double-opt-in panellists. The Chinese recruitment site was established in late January.

Albert Angrisani, President and CEO of Greenfield / Ciao, describes the foray into Asia as 'a well-planned and strategic move'. He adds: 'The Asian market represents a valuable potential expansion opportunity for us, as many of our current large clients have a strong presence in Asia.'

Nicolas Metzke, Senior VP of Survey Completion at Greenfield/Ciao, explains the process of launching the new panels: 'Building new panels is a complex process. However, expanding into Asia added a few new dimensions. It's not simply a case of gathering names and email addresses. For each country, we build local language platforms, web sites and surveys, develop local currency incentive systems, and appoint a local-language panel manager.'

On Friday, the company announced a net operating loss of $65.5m for 2005 (mrweb.com/drno/news5160.htm )

The companies are online at www.Greenfield.com and www.ciao-group.com . More details of the new panels are at www.ciao-surveys.com
