GfK Adds to IT Tracking in Australia and NZ

February 21 2006

GfK Australia has announced an expansion of its IT tracking services during the first half of 2006, including three new product categories and plans to track IT retail activities in New Zealand, starting in March 2006.

The new product categories are:

  • Data Projectors - added last month and including DLP and LGD projectors, for consumer and business markets. This is currently based on the group's panel of Organised Retail Chains only, but should expand to the wider IT channel and specialist audio/visual channel during 2006.
  • Networking Hardware - modems, routers, hubs etc.. - based on the Organised Retail Chains panel, from March 2006
  • Storage Devices - such as hard drives, CD and DVD drives. This will be based on GfK's panel of Organised Retail Chains and Independent Retailers and will be available from the second half of 2006.
All three will be available as a weekly and monthly service. GfK will also be expanding geographical coverage to New Zealand, for desktop PCs, notebooks, printers, multifunction devices and monitors - this will be a weekly and monthly service from the Organised Retail Chains panel, and starts next month.
