MR Software Firms Link Key Products

March 6 2006

Software companies E-Tabs and Pulse Train have announced the integration of their leading products, tabs utility the E-Tabs Reader and Web-based survey analysis tool Pulsar(r) Web. The agreement is described as 'opening the door for instant charting and reporting'.

The firms, both recent recipients of the MRS/ASC Award for Technology Effectiveness, have worked together in the past, but the new integration makes the interface between the two seamless: the forthcoming release of Pulsar Web (version 3.16) incorporates full support for the E-Tabs suite of enhanced reporting products with no intervening import/export or re-formatting steps required.

Pulsar(r) Web allows internal staff and end users quick, easy and secure access to survey data from a wide variety of formats via a Web browser and Internet access. The E-Tabs Professional Reader replaces traditional tabs with a flexible electronic E-Tabs version, for easier dissemination of analysis among clients and colleagues, table checking, collaboration and transfer of data into Microsoft Office applications.

Instant charting and reporting will be possible by linking with E-Tabs' Enterprise solution: previously created tables from Pulsar Web can be incorporated into a PowerPoint presentation updated with the correct figures, with a couple of clicks. The companies are also working with a developing XML based standard, XtabML, for the interchange of aggregated data (i.e. tables) between systems developed by different vendors.

Benjamin Rietti, CEO of E-Tabs, says getting more value out of existing data is now a key client requirement. 'I really believe this combination offers huge value and significant opportunities for improved reporting capabilities across our industry.' Pulse Train CEO Pat Molloy comments: 'Not only is the end result extremely exciting for end users, but the XtabML exchange of data between our two systems marks the beginning of more openness in the industry. It gives clients the opportunity to pick best-of-breed applications from different vendors without having to worry about compatibility issues.'

The E-Tabs Lite reader is a free download; the Professional version offers advanced capabilities. Web sites are at www.e-tabs.com and www.pulsetrain.com
