CAN-SPAM Veteran for CMOR

April 13 2006

In the USA, The Council for Marketing and Opinion Research (CMOR) has hired Christopher S. Lee as its new Director of Government Affairs and Counsel. Lee will co-ordinate the profession's policies and objectives regarding Federal and State government affairs.

He will also be responsible for monitoring federal legislative and regulatory activities affecting the industry, as well as helping educate legislators and policymakers about the research profession.

Lee has ten years of Capitol Hill experience, working on technology and telecommunications issues, and was Deputy Counsel to Senator Conrad Burns at the time of the CAN-SPAM Act of 2003, the federal legislation to restrict commercial emails. In addition, Lee worked at the Senate Commerce Committee and was an advisor on Internet, technology and privacy policy issues for the Senate Committee on Rules and Administration, and the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committees. He also has professional experience in a federal regulatory body, having served as Attorney-Advisor with the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

According to Susan Pinkus, co-chair of CMOR's Government Affairs Committee, 'Educating various government bodies on the importance and continued growth of survey research is important to CMOR. Chris has the credentials to be a trusted conduit between lawmakers, the public, the international research community and the multi-billion dollar U.S. research profession.'
