The UK's Media Research Group has elected Hugh Johnson of the Huge Organisation as its new Chair, with Roger Gane stepping down from the position and from the committee. Eight other candidates were elected to serve on the committee.
There were sixteen candidates for the election, after which it was announced that Gane, the current Chair, had 'decided reluctantly that he was unable to devote the required time to the role for the second year of his term'. As a result nine rather than eight members were elected from the sixteen candidates to bring the committee to full strength.

Johnson will serve for the 2006-7 year, with another election for Chair in 12 months. The normal cycle of the chair being elected for two years will continue from next year.
