Record Quarter for Ipsos

May 16 2006

Ipsos has announced revenues of Euros 188 million for the first quarter of 2006, a 31% increase on the first quarter of 2005. This represents the company's strongest quarterly growth in the past five years - and it includes organic growth of just over 9%.

Aside from organic growth, Ipsos says there are two other main factors in the 31% rise: a very positive currency effect contributing 7.1%; changes in the scope of consolidation with the integration of three large companies added 14.6%. The three companies, MORI in the UK, Understanding Unlimited in the US and Camelford Graham in Canada, enjoyed a 'very satisfying volume of business during the first quarter'.

Organic growth results from 'providing more services in more countries for its international corporate accounts', and maintaining close relations with thousands of local and regional clients, which now account for half of total revenues.

Ipsos reports stronger growth in developing markets (Asia excluding Japan, the Middle East, central and eastern Europe and Latin America) than in the developed countries.

All five of Ipsos' specialised business lines reported 'satisfying volumes of activity' in the first quarter of 2006. Advertising Research grew 20% year on year to Euros 38.0m, Marketing Research 20% to Euros 93.4m, Media Research 15% to Euros 13.5m, Opinion and Social Research 10% to Euros 23.5m and Customer Satisfaction research 37% to Euros 19.0m.

Ipsos predicts that organic growth and the contribution of newly integrated companies will remain very positive throughout the year, although currency effects will not be as good as they have been in the first quarter. It reaffirms its 2006 target as consolidated revenue growth of at least 20% accompanied by an improvement in the operating margin. In 2007, it is aiming for consolidated revenues of at least one billion euros and an operating margin of at least 10%.
