Accenture Body to Promote Public Service Research

June 13 2006

Global consultancy Accenture last week launched a new institute designed to help public sector organizations improve the delivery of services, with bases in Washington D.C. and London. Among other aims, the institute will promote the use of research on the concept of public service value.

The organisation, named the Accenture Institute for Public Service Value, will bring together leading academics, officials and government service providers, to help governments increase the effectiveness and efficiency of their service delivery.

Led by a number of 'Institute Fellows', representing the leading thinkers and achievers in the creation of public service value, the Institute will convene conferences, host dialogues, and undertake, commission and publish research from its associated institutions and Fellows.

Accenture's Public Service Value (PSV) model adapts the core concepts of shareholder value from the business world to define and measure governments' return for tax money spent. It helps non-profit organizations and private-sector companies that provide services traditionally delivered primarily by governments, in addition to government agencies themselves. Its web site is at www.accenture.com/publicservicevalue .
