Leading Canadian pollster Angus Reid is to launch a new full-service strategic consultancy with an emphasis on online research solutions. Angus Reid Strategies has offices in Vancouver, Calgary, and Toronto and expects to open US offices in the coming months.
The new firm will leverage the software technology of polling and panel software provider Vision Critical, which was started by his son Andrew Reid five years ago and sits alongside the new firm under the umbrella of the Angus Reid Corporation. The venture will also benefit from Reid's iconic status in Canadian polling, with 80% public awareness of his name.
Reid says clients that license software from Vision Critical are requesting strategic consulting services to complement their Web-based panel products. 'There is a growing demand to replace traditional market research such as phone and mail surveys with online research methodologies'. Reid says the new company will 'take advantage of the obvious synergies with Vision Critical's innovative online technology'. He adds that whereas in the past many research companies lacked the resources and infrastructure for the large, complex research projects typically conducted by global firms, Internet technologies like online panels, interactive surveys, and 3D media applications are making it possible.
The new company is online at www.angusreidstrategies.com . Vision Critical's web site is at www.visioncritical.com .
