Analytics Firm Buys Into Search Marketing Arena

Portland, Oregon-based online analytics company WebTrends has announced the acquisition of a search marketing specialist, ClickShift, giving it an entry into search marketing.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. ClickShift will continue to operate from its San Bruno, Calif., office, and CEO John Rodkin will become VP-General Manager of digital advertising solutions for WebTrends.

Details of a new product, WebTrends Dynamic Search™, will be unveiled worldwide to online marketers, industry experts and journalists at invitation-only launch events in New York City on December 11th and London on December 14th.

ClickShift's core development team will join WebTrends and co-founders, Rodkin and Leo Chang will continue to lead the team from its current base in San Bruno, Ca.

WebTrends CEO and President Greg Drew says the company looked at ways to offer customers an online marketing optimization solution and realised they had 'many unmet needs in this area'. He continues: 'With ClickShift, we've found a perfect blend of deep online advertising expertise and innovative technology that solves fundamental challenges facing marketers.'
