Flat Panel Specialist Adds Seven

Texas-based researcher DisplaySearch has strengthened its team with seven senior hires. Three new staff join in the US, two in Korea and one each in China and Japan.

In the US, Eddie Taylor joins as Vice President of TV Market Research and TV Team Leader, after eight years in the display and TV businesses at Sony Electronics, most recently in charge of Business Planning and Operations within the electronics giant's TV group. His new role includes developing DisplaySearch's suite of TV reports and working on its TV-related event and consulting businesses.

Dale H. Maunu joins as VP with ten years' experience working with CRT monitors followed by twelve with LCDs. He was previously Director of Marketing, Procurement, MIS and Contracts at Optrex America and before that Director of Marketing for Flat Panel Displays at Mitsubishi Electric America. He will now focus on small/medium displays.

Heather Spindler becomes Director of Information Technology & Product Marketing, with ten years' experience. She was previously a planning consultant for high tech initiatives in the advisory practice at PricewaterhouseCoopers'. She will manage DisplaySearch's technology and product marketing and lead the implementation of its expanding product and service offering.

Away from the US, Michelle Lo joins as Marketing Director for DisplaySearch China, based in Shanghai. Lo set up and ran the Shanghai branch of Taiwanese MR company TRI before stints as a PR manager for semiconductor company Spirox, participant in the start-up of Infovision and a sales manager for TFT LCD firm Infovision Optoelectronics. Her new role covers events, PR management, sales, marketing and the collection of FPD industry market information in China

Tadashi Uno becomes Director of Materials and Components in Japan, responsible for gathering and analyzing component and material information at the upstream end of the FPD value chain. He worked previously in Operations Planning in the Display Components area of DaiNippon Printing Co in Tokyo.

In the firm's Korean Office, Hyun-Seung (HS) Ahn joins as President and Yoon-sung Chung as FPD Material & Technology Analyst. Ahn joins from AKT, Inc. in the US where he was Director of Global Strategic Marketing for four years. He also spent seven years in the TFT-LCD business at Samsung Electronics in Korea, working on strategic product planning, global marketing, investment strategic planning and management of international strategic alliances; and four working for Samsung Electronics Japan in Tokyo.

Chung will track cost, performance and technology developments in PDP and LCD materials markets. He spent ten years on the R&D Team of Samsung SDI's CRT and PDP Division, managing product planning and technology marketing, leading the FPD benchmarking team and teaching new employees about display history and technologies.

Group President Tim Bush says a further component analyst will start in Taiwan in March.
