TNS Media Intelligence Acquires Competitor

TNS Media Intelligence, the media monitoring arm of TNS, has acquired rival agency PressWatch Media, to boost its UK market position.

TNS Media Intelligence provides national and international media content measurement of print, radio, TV, Internet, cinema and outdoors, plus insight and analysis. Its monitoring services include advertising expenditure, advertising creation and news, and the firm also conducts sports sponsorship evaluation.

PressWatch has been around for more than a decade and provides media tracking, bespoke media analysis, press cuttings, company rankings and sector analysis.

Describing how the acquisition will build on the UK's services, Jean-Michel Portail, Managing Director of TNS Media Intelligence Europe, commented: 'The combined expertise of TNS Media Intelligence and PressWatch creates a unique offering in the UK media tracking and evaluation market. This move follows TNS' acquisitions of Presse+ in France and D+A in Spain and reinforces TNS Media Intelligence's position as one of the market leaders in media intelligence worldwide.'
