Board Appointment for Abt

US-based public sector specialist Abt Associates has added Dr. Steven Sinding to its Board of Directors. An expert on international population matters, he spent twenty years at the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), a major client of Abt.

From 2002 until his retirement last year, Sinding served as Director-General of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), helping to revitalize the non-governmental organization with a focus on sexual and reproductive health.

Following his time at USAID, he served as Population Advisor to the World Bank, Director of Population Sciences for the Rockefeller Foundation and Professor of Population and Family Health at Columbia University. A graduate of Oberlin College with a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, he has written and spoken extensively on international population matters.
