UK Government Picks Eight for MR Shortlist

February 7 2007

Eight firms have been selected from more than 380 applicants for the UK government's 'Catalist' shortlist of suppliers in the marketing and MR consultancy category. They include agencies ORC International, Ci Research and Quadrant / BMG Research.

The roster enables buyers to bypass much of the normal procurement process, as EU procurement directives are complied with at the time it is built. Buyers can then award contracts without the need to tender in open competition.

Catalist is the brand name grouping together the Functional Consultancy Framework Agreements issued by OGC Buying Solutions, an executive agency of the Office of Government Commerce (OGC), itself a part of HM Treasury. The framework agreements aim to achieve substantial savings for public sector buyers, through significant buying power, economies of scale and strategic partnerships.

The remaining five agencies, selected followed a rigorous tendering and evaluation process, are Kable Ltd, PA Consulting Group, PricewaterhouseCoopers, QS Consortium – Quatrosystem Ltd and Tribal Consortium. Quadrant Consultants Ltd and BMG Research combined their offer specifically for the Catalist evaluation.

The agreement will remain in effect until November 2009.
