Colin Buchanan Buys Transport Researcher

March 1 2007

Transport planning and analysis consultancy Colin Buchanan has acquired Vincent Knight Transport Research (VKTR) to strengthen its MR offer. The two firms already work closely together and share offices in London's Notting Hill Gate.

VKTR conducted its first traffic survey 20 years ago, and has since been involved in public transport research including bus, rail and airport studies. Until 2006, a large part of the national traffic census for the Department of Transport was carried out by VKTR.

Damien Wilson-Pulley, Associate Director of Market Research and Surveys at Colin Buchanan, believes that VKTR's researchers will complement his firm's dedicated survey team. 'The combined forces of Colin Buchanan Surveys and Vincent Knight Transport Research create a comprehensive and robust range of services to meet the survey needs of all modes of transport within the industry. We now have the scale of operation to realise the survey challenges of any size and complexity.'

Rupert Emerson, founding Director of Vincent Knight says there is a natural 'fit' between the two firms, which share a similar philosophy.
