US Word of Mouth Firm Launches in Europe

March 2 2007

Austin, Texas-based word of mouth research and promotion specialist Bazaarvoice is opening a London office, its first venture outside the USA, and has appointed Shareen Campbell to lead the office as Sales Director.

Campbell has more than 12 years of related experience and a track record of introducing new interactive marketing technologies into the UK and European market. She joins from rich media vendor RichFX, where she led European sales efforts in what was also the company's first venture ioutside the US. Previously, she worked at Digivate Ltd, ConAgra Foods, Shop'n Chek and Consodata UK Ltd / RFM Data, and was Head of the E-Marketing division for MR firm Abacus Direct Europe Ltd., then a division of DoubleClick, Inc.

Bazaarvoice cites a recent eMarketer study reporting $47.9bn in online sales for European eCommerce companies in 2006, with the average UK shopper spending more than the average US shopper; and the finding that European marketers are 'highly attuned to word of mouth marketing'. Campbell says her new employer 'sits right at the intersection' of these two major trends in European retail.

Founder and CEO Brett Hurt comments: 'Bazaarvoice serves several global retailers who are interested in bringing word of mouth closer to their brand in several different regions of the world. At the same time, we are seeing a real commitment to consumer-generated content and word of mouth marketing among UK and European-based companies and partners.'

The company's web site is at www.bazaarvoice.com .
